I feel like a snake oil salesman

For over a year now I've talked with my main study partner about what course we're going to take and how we're going to attack the exam together. And all was proceeding according to our loose plan... until crunch-time. When the going gets tough, the tough take off in opposite directions.

Generally speaking, we both planned to take BarBri but beyond that we were a bit fuzzy. Neither of us has gone through this before (and, knock on wood, we'll never have to do it again), so we were not exactly sure about what to expect as the exam got closer. And now that I've deviated from the BarBri schedule, she's over there in that frantic crowd all by herself. What have I done!

Actually, it's not that bad. She's the independent sort so she'll do okay. I just feel bad because we've gone through the ups and downs of the years of school together and now, when its really important, we're traveling two different paths. Granted, the paths closely parallel each other, and they cross multiple times, but at a crucial time like this it just seemed like we would be working together more.

But, hey, we have SMS, cell phones, and e-mail to keep in touch. And we talk daily. So it'll probably not be as bad as I imagine. Besides, in the last week of July, we'll be on our own anyway. So this is probably a necessary weaning from our familiar support structure.

And she just called to tell me that there are about 100 more people down there today than there were yesterday. And it was very crowded yesterday. Then to top it off, a hundred or more people didn't bring the material that the lecturer, and the plan, requested, so she is sitting there working her MBEs as the BarBri staff makes copies for everyone who stumbled out of the gate (and apparently out of bed this morning).

The beat goes on... How many MBEs have you done this morning?

If she is in the West LA session - no one mentioned about the book... and it wasn't on the schedule. In fact - no books are on the schedule saying that we should bring them to class. It sucked, yes, but it wasn't the fault of the people who showed up without the material.

You know... I never thought about that. I was at the Intro session yesterday and I don't recall them asking us to bring anything either. And neither does the schedule mention having to bring anything. My bad. Must be all this sleep that I've been getting lately that's making me cranky. (;-)>

Yeah... that's the ticket.

I thought it was good of BarBri to make the extra copies though. Apparently it was an unexpected development.

The next couple of months are going to have everyone on edge. Well... me, anyway.
