Alrighty Now ...

I'm going back to my schedule of infrequent posts. My business is keeping me very busy and I have to find time again to work on my writing approach.

Be sure to let me know if I need to nuke the comments section (again) because I no longer receive e-mail notifications, and I'm not maintaining the blog like I used to.

Send me an email directly if you need to communicate.

All y'all take good care now, ya' hear?

It's great you have a bustling business. who knows? maybe the ca bar won't be such a big deal in the long run. the point is to make a good living and do some good in the world is it not? You don't need a ca license to do that. be well GP.

please stop taking this test. give up. 9 times is enough. your wasting your life away.

Go worry about yourself... not GP. It's a free country and he can do whatever he wants to. If he wants to take it 100 times, that's his choice to make. NOT YOURS!

All the negative people need to stop - let him take the bar as many times as he wishes - what's wrong with working on that goal? It's better than the lives of people in a lot of third world countries and it's not like he's neglecting his minor children to pursue the bar. Let it be.

blah blah blah ....

fail, fail, fail, fail, fail, fail, fail, fail, fail, fail,

The 10th one if for what is going to happen in July.

711- SHOVE IT! Go spew your negativity elsewhere! And learn how to write coherent sentences please!

Ha! Another example of those who are purpotedly so tough (ie - stupid) that they aren't going to let multiple rejections deter them get so sensitive when an anonymous internet poster calls them out for ridiculous life decisions. Are you all this inconsistent on the bar exam? Any excuse for failing multiple times is better than just being too stupid to pass, right?

When you pass the bar exam then I will permit you to comment on my writing. Until this, I declare that I am strong, and I am not going to let an anonymous email posted discourage me. I will conquer this post!! Losers.

You see a guy who is having a bit of trouble, but persisting at making his dream come true and what do you do? You taunt him saying he is "too stupid to pass". You tell him he'll be taking the test X number of times. Do you think that makes you better than he? Smarter? More tough? You are just some anonymous know it all who likes to assert your alleged superiority by kicking a man when you think he's down and calling it "advice" or "talking straight" or whatever it is you rationalize it with.

He may be struggling with a test, but he's raising a family, running a business, and has the balls to put his face out there and be honest about his struggles. Who the hell are you?

"Anonymous", that's what you are.

Anonymous said...

You're a moron 1:36!
Enough said!

Davy -

Thanks for asking!

Yes, I am smarter. I passed two bar exams (including California) on the first try, did well at a real law school, and (so far) have a successful career in the very field that he is unable to enter. I think that makes me objectively smarter. Appreciate that you took the time to notice!

I also have a family and can assure you that my children will not be permitted to make silly decisions like going to unaccredited law schools and taking an exam that you will not pass 10 times.

I don't really know enough to say who is more tough, but whining about posters speaking their mind isn't a particularly tough or thick-skinned trait. It is easy to "put yourself out there" and then go ahead and delete all negative comments. Just sayin'

@ 4:27 PM

I seriously doubt you passed a single Bar exam. This is just your way of trying to feel better about yourself. Know this: the real loser is you, my friend. Oh, and I passed the Bar on my second time around. GP was a great motivator. You're just wasted comment space.

Good for you 5:02. That means I'm smarter than you too! Maybe you can be my associate one day. Scratch that, my firm does not hire those who are in the bottom 50th percentile of applicants.

50 on essays ... don't you get that score for writing your name on the exam? How is it is tragedy that this man fails the bar and why is it that all you bar exam failing morons think he is somehow unlucky to fail the 9th time? Wouldn't the logical impulse be that he got lucky if he passed the exam?

hey GP...

i used to read your blog when i was preparing for the july 2009 bar exam and i found your words very encouraging and comforting. I recently came across your blog again and it's shocking to see how disgusting some of these posts have been.

I can honestly say that I am a big fan of you and this blog. That said, it might be best for you to delete this blog or at least freeze it until you pass. free yourself from all the negativity and pressure that you are placing upon yourself. focus on what you need to do and we all know that you'll succeed

the best of luck to you

You are way too cool and impressive for this blog. A success story like yourself should be busy billing. Still not sure what you're doing here though. Oh yeah, getting your rocks off. Clown!

One does not get "lucky" passing the bar exam.

Whether they pass their 1st, 5th OR 10th time!

Anonymous said...

9:16 - Great! So to be logically consistent, you must agree that he is not unlucky to fail the bar 9 times. That is the exact point I am trying to make. 9 times he doesn't have what it takes. Why does anyone think the 10th, 11th or 12th will go any different?

Anonymous said...

Did he take it 9 times?

2007 - July
2008 - February, July
2009 - February, July
2010 - February, July
2011 - February

That's 8, right?

GP is a nice guy and is clearly intelligent. But the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. At some point, you have to move on. Still, love the blog, although it went from my inspiration during the bar exam of February 2008 (my first attempt which I passed) to watching a car accident at the current moment.

Anonymous said...

Well, I'm not sure you're right there, this last result was a lot better than any before. The slope of the regression curve isn't particularly encouraging, but it is positive.

I passed the Bar on my 57th try and now I am a Supreme Court Justice. My friend passed the Bar on his first try and has been unemployed for 10 years. Go figure.

Wow I see you are still here GP. I do admire you, sure you will pass this at some point. After 2 times I decided to quit CA and passed it EASILY in other 2 jurisdictions. Don't know what's wrong with CA's graders. I had a very good GPA in both the BA and Law School but yet didn't pass. Anyway, there is life beyond California, I am doing very well as immigration lawyer, maybe thanks to my almost perfect Spanish. Good luck GP, do whatever is best for you!

Yer...RIGHT! Idiot...

Anonymous said...

You should contact forpeopleofcolor.org. They have bar exam experts you can with and it is free! I worked with them and passed on my third try. Good luck!

Anonymous said...

Anon 10:07 PM: "what is wrong with CA's graders" is that they have higher standards than many other jurisdictions. Essentially, passing the Calbar takes decent writing ability and good memorization skills - both legitimate skills to want lawyers to have. That's it. It's not rocket science.

That is all well and good, however, what makes a recently passed bar candidate an expert on good writing? Quite often he/she has no experience. And seriously, it is only good writing as it pertains to the CA Bar Exam. Any such writing in the practcing context would be a hot bed for malpractice and laughed out of the courtroon.

Anonymous said...

Thanks for sharing your story and Good Luck!

I came across your blog when I was studying for the bar in 2008. Every time results come out I come to your page to check and see if you passed. I am so sorry that it has taken you this long and I cannot wait for the day I check and I see that you have finally accomplished your goal. I applaud your perseverance and wish you all the best! I will tell you though, being an attorney is not all that. If I had to do it over again, I would NOT do it. I assure you, I was much happier before and had alot less debt.

July 2011 = fail

Why bother?

I happen to know this guy personally and he is really cool. It is painful that he is working so hard and hasn't passed but I respect the fact that he is still trying to do what HE wants to do. Funny thing is, when he does pass I have no doubt that he will be a more successful attorney than the nutball who thinks making fun of him is some kind of sport...

Respect...
