Apologies ...

When I removed the moderation requirement I neglected to have the comments emailed to me.  As a result, I got caught up in everything else that catches me up and I forgot the post-mortem I promised.

I'll try to get to it in the next couple of days.  In the mean time, it looks like I might have to go back to moderating.

I am a repeater and really appreciate this blog. I do not understand the cruelty written by some. Why are they perusing this blog to criticize? Please just go start another blog – but don’t criticize this wonderful man. This blog is awesome. I had several friends who read it and told me about before I did. Point being I really want to thank you. Not passing takes your life, your self-esteem, it is heart wrenching.
I too missed very narrowly a couple of times, I literally obtained a passing score on the writing part with a 1449 once - and then my multistate score would lower my overall score to a near 1400. The comments from those who pass the first or second time are basically them gloating, and rubbing it in your face that you did not pass. So Poobah. Hats off, to you. This actually is cathartic for some of us.... THANK YOU AGAIN.

Can you take the CA Bar exam without passing the "Baby Bar exam"?
I'm worried now. I passed the CA Bar exam in February and waiting for my Moral Character Application to be approved. While checking the status of my Moral character application I notice that under First Year Law School exam says - Requirement not satisfied?????!!! WTF.
Until that moment since I got registred with the State Bar it said - Requirement satisfied???!?!!!

Please any input, please!!!!

Anon 12:37 and 8:43: Thanks very much. This blog has become something of a group effort (a class action?) and I'm committed to keeping it going as long as I'm going (picture a blogging Energizer Bunny.) It's tough to stay motivated at times, but comments like yours help me keep a positive attitude. So, again, thanks very much!

Anon 12:13: I'm not sure what's up with that. Technically, if you attend an unaccredited law school (as I did), you can't finish law school and thus get a final transcript and certification of completion, both of which are required to register for the bar exam, without having passed the baby bar.

Of course, if you went to an accredited law school, either by the ABA or the CA State Bar, you don't have to take the baby bar. What law school did you attend?

And I don't believe you can even register for the general bar exam unless those requirements are fulfilled, if they are required. I think everyone has to take the MPRE, so you must have passed that. Also, if there's a problem with your qualifications I would think, but I don't know for sure, that Vincent Au, the guy whose name has always been on my Moral Character status updates, would alert you to that.

But, again, I reserve the right to be wrong.

Anon 12:13 - Noticed the same thing. My application had actually shown that I don't need it (I am a practicing atty) and then when I checked today, it had flipped. I promptly called the admissions office, who made clear that this is just a technical error and that a number of people were having this issue. She indicated that it might not be fixed for a few days, but this is just a technical glitch from the looks of things.

Where the hell is that post-mortem?

Good question. The challenge is that I've been so busy trying to make money I've not had the time to write one out in a way that would do it justice.

Maybe I could just tackle one essay at a time. Yeah, that's the ticket!

Thanks for the reminder, though. I'll try to get Essay 1 (at least) up by tomorrow.

Forget these people demanding that you put up a post mortem, you don't owe them anything. You did your job, you took the exam and now you deserve a few months off of not thinking about it.

Take a break for yourself. Know that it is okay for you to take the post-mortem off your to-do list.

You have mouths to feed and bills to pay, focus on what's most important.
