I've followed this blog for five years. I'm ashamed to admit that I once said you should give up taking the exam because it was clearly not going to happen. I'm here to apologize, express my admiration for your persistence, and wish you all the best with your legal career. Speaking as a member of the California bar: welcome.

Followed your blog for awhile now. So happy for you. I feel compelled to go through every blog post and yell at everyone who doubted you. You could seriously write a book though.

So are very, very, very old now? This is so awesome :)

Congrats - been following your blog since Feb '09. Now you've got a shot to be just as successful and important as the naysayers. My money is on you being a great lawyer as a result of going through this crucible. Best of luck to you!

Ditto to the comments above!!! Congrats!! So proud of you for sticking with it. I passed in Feb, and am so happy that you can now enjoy the same elation that a passing grade can bring. Enjoy every second of this victory - you've earned it!!!

Yeaaah Poobah. You and that furry feline rocking it out tonight? Yeah you are.

GP's CoS said...

I am worried that your association with a known communist feline whose name shall no longer be spoken in this blogosphere could hijack your moral character exam.

If you need a CoS, please let me know as - truth be told - I like you much more than that idiot, lazy feline.

This guy Anonymous can't really be for real.
However, the word of the Grand Poobah passing his law exam is.
I'm sure that the Loyal Order of Water Buffalos, Fred, Barney, and Joe Rockhead will all have something to drink tonight.

8:25pm how many times Did you reread the screen trying to decipher the words that said that you passed?

The Grand Poobah said...

Hey Jonathan,

I can't thank you enough for your continued faith and support. I appreciate it more than you know.

I was afraid to refresh the screen or to type my info again for fear that it would change.

But I'm over that now. Yippee!

Been following your blog since 2007 when I was a repeater. I passed (on my 3rd try) in July 2007 and if you recall, today was 5 years to the day that July 2007 bar exam results were released. My misery finally came to an end that night and yours was just beginning.

I am very, very happy for you and know what a tremendous relief this must be for you. Welcome to the club, you have most definitely earned it. Now go celebrate and reflect on the fact that you conquered this beast. Way to go!!!

Congrats!! - Long time reader, first time poster - I don't remember when I started following your blog - I didn't pass the first time I took the CBX, so probably sometime after that. I remember the feeling I had checking the results on the day I passed, "knowing" against all my negative presumptions that I didn't pass, but then seeing my name pop up on the screen saying I had passed, and just feeling the greatest wave of relief wash over me. I just started laughing, and laughing, and laughing. It felt so good. I texted my friends, saying the sky seems bluer, the grass greener. I don't know for sure, and I never will, but it sure feels that passing the CBX after the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or Nth time, is so much sweeter. Enjoy it, GP. I will miss checking in on your status, but more than that, I will be glad to know that there is nothing to check in on. Again - CONGRATS.

Congratulations! I wish you the best in your career. I posted a long time ago expressing some reservations about you continuing to take the bar. Thanks for proving me wrong. Best of luck and welcome. Glad to have someone like you (someone that does not take a "no" for an answer) as a member of the California bar.

Anonymous said...

I've failed the bar a handful of times now and I just wanted to say thank you for NOT giving up.

You give me much needed hope.

God bless

Congrats, I've been following your blog since July 2011 when I took the bar for the first time. This was my 3rd time taking the exam, and I passed along with you. Thanks for keeping me company during the journey.

Congrats on your well-deserved success. When I took the bar your blog was a source of perspective and inspiration. So happy for you.

I am very happy for you Poobah. I've been following you almost since the beginning. Despite a LOT of negative commentary - you always kept your positive attitude - and now you made those naysayers look like jerks. You must be very, very proud and relieved that this is all over.

I hope to see a post on what you feel ultimately put you over, and on all of what you did that worked for you. That will be a very helpful post to others in the future.

Looks like I am the last of the bloggers I've been following that hasn't yet passed their home state's bar exam. I did pass another state, for which I am grateful, but I your passing is making me want to cross that threshold myself. Nose to the grindstone for me.

Congratulations again.

Anonymous said...

Congrats! I know the feeling of not passing. I passed feb,2010 after many"your name does not appear" Welcome!

Anonymous said...

Congratulations, GP! I started reading your blog back in 2007 and felt your pain each time you you did not receive good news. After several failed attempts myself, I finally passed a few years ago. I was determined to not let the exam get the best of me. Your tenacity and refusal to give up got you to point. You did it! Congrats!!

By the way, Poo, you'll be--ah--pleased to know that malpractice insurance rates increase every year for about the first 5 years, then it levels off. When you're ready, I'll give you some recommendations.

I have been following your blog for five years and had always believed that your persistence would eventually payoff. Congratulations! You will make a great advocate for your clients.

GP, you've been such an inspiration to so many and despite the naysayers/trolls who tried to bring you down, you stuck with it. So very happy for you. May you be an even bigger inspiration in the future.

Reader since July '10 bar. Congrats!

people do pass! i thought they were just making up names for the passing list and collecting funds for annual conferences et al. having failed feb 08, july 08, feb 09 and july 10, I GAVE UP. Your blog refueled me and depressed me at the same time. if not you, who then? and yet you would crumble! and then i stopped checking your blog, studying for the bar myself and carried on like always-a sad thirsty paralegal. a fellow july 10 failed study buddy insisted we try it again as its been a while and thoughts began to reassemble again. the audio cds has started rambling on my work commute and i have downloaded and played with few free iphone calbar apps testing myself frantically on MBEs for last 3 days. And tonight before hitting the sack, i wondered whatever happened to that bald guy with glasses, oh yes...Grand Poobah...and i saw the blog heading struckout, About me edited and I freaked out! I'm gonna fire insense sticks at your picture every morning, meditate about you, and follow your religion. You have become my new god. bless me Oh Learned one, for thou shalt guide me out of this troublent cali-bar waters this time around.

so happy for you ...
