Hey Mikey, The Bar Exam Is Over!

And I hardly felt a thing!  I haven't been this stress-free on the last Thursday in February in, let's see, ummm, about five years!

Congratulations to all of you who sat for the Bar exam in whichever State you sat for.  And a special hearty congratulations to those of you for whom this was not your first time at the dance.

It's time now to go home, grab a glass of your favorite beverage, sit in your most comfortable chair, prop your feet up in front of the tube, and watch I Love Lucy re-runs until the wee hours of the morning.

Great Job!

Just happened upon this blog when I was searching to see what people thought of the bar exam that ended today. It was my first time, but who knows how it went. Either way, your blog is an inspiration! Good for you, man. Good for you. Your story made me smile.

Thanks! Last time around, I posted on this blog with panicked questions about how I fubarred my exam, and ultimately missed passing by 70 points. This time around, I put in more work on every single category - and adopted your writing technique from last time, GP. (Other tutors were also recommending a similar technique, and this set of essays really lent themselves to that writing style you recommended.)

I also noticed that your bar teacher recommended 35 MBEs a day, so I did that as well. Man, was the test easier because of that, and also due to the fact that I did those 300 NCBEX questions you can buy from them (way more realistic than the ones from the bar study services).

The essays were simply easier this time around. I believe July was a more difficult bar, and heard several people volunteer the same opinion. Thanks for the inspiration GP, your tale of 11 attempts inspired me to study.

And take pride in the fact that you passed a tough July test, which was more difficult than other bar exams!

Anon 11:29: Congrats! I think you've experienced the evolutionary conceptual change that us repeaters have to get through to pass the exam. Or, at least, I hope so, if only to prove my theory (how do you like being a guinea pig?) You're not the only person to have done that, and I hope you folks get good results in May. If (when!) you do, it will make me feel much better, and it will confirm my theory as to why I passed.

Anon 5:51: Ummm... now would be a good time! (;-)>

Instead of relaxing, maybe you can go grab a drink with your STINKY FISH friend Big Cat!!! I haven't forgotten about the immature way that I was treated by you last month GP nor have I forgot about how Big Cat is a lazy idiot cat that rests before bar exam. I WILL PASS THIS EXAM and I don't need any help from you and your stinky fish friend Big Cat.

Ive been following your blog for a few years...at least since 2008. I passed on my 2nd attempt taking the feb 2008 exam. I really admire your persistence. Congratulations...and thanks for bringing us along on the journey.

2:34 - You are an idiot. You will never pass and your whole stinky fish thing makes no sense. Leave PC and Big Cat alone. Their business and just that, their business!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GP - Please shut that idiot up. This blog is much better without these trolls. Keep up the positive vibes. Your story is one which I strive to live by!! You are an inspiration and a model to us all GP .....

Poobah,

Followed your blog for a long time and glad to see it is alive and well.

Q: Now that you are practicing, would you mind to speak to the issues facing newly admitted attorneys? I'm newly admitted myself, and my present concern is that I'm looking over options for liability insurance... Do you have any advice for shopping in this area? What's the general cost for a new attorney?

Kind Regards,

P

For malpractice insurance I went with Lawyer's Mutual Insurance Co. (LMIC.) Their rate was a few hundred dollars less than Marsh (which the Cal Bar endorses) and I've heard good things about them.

Identifying your personal learning style can really help in selecting the best vehicles for bar exam preparation.

I learn best when entertained. Stories were key, So, I made some animated stories that explain various contract topics. I will likely do this for a variety of exam-tested topics.

Please have a look at my Youtube playlist and share your feedback ...
