And I've got to fit MBEs and PTs in there as well.
My days look like this:
- 25-50 MBEs in the morning, then write out the rule on the ones I missed.
- Issue spot, outline, then write at least 5 essays in that day's subject.
- Outline one PT completely, then write two per week (pick a day, any day).
Like Yoda said, "Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try."
So, doing, I am.

GP, like yourself, I am in crunch time for the february bar...your approach seems pretty consistent with what I am doing. Best wishes in your time of preparation and most importantly during the bar. This will be a successful year for all of us!
GP--sounds like a good plan. Good luck!
Ah, another 50-ish person on this quest... I am sitting for the 3rd time. I have the added frustration of being a lawyer in good standing with numerous successes and clients who love me for over 25 years in two other jurisdictions.
This time, I hired a private tutor. I have written almost 70 essays since Christmas. I am ready to smash every glass in my house. I wish I smoked. Do I feel prepared? Of course not.
have you ever attended Holtz PT workshop? I am studying for the CA bar in the east coast and wasn't able to attend his lecture. If you have any tips from his workshop, please share! thanks & good luck

If anyone has time, would you clue me in on the "seven CA distinctions" in Civ Pro? I'm finding a lot more. If you have been taught that there are seven, please share if you take a break and can't think of anything else to do. Thank you!
From CaliforniaBound-- GP, I'm thinking about you and sending "you are going to kick a***" thoughts your way...
Alrighty then… some comments on the comments. I’ve not been as attentive to this blog as I was the first time around. I think that’s because I sense that it’s not as important. What a revelation, eh? Anyway …
Anon: Thanks. I hope we’re both doing the right thing. Best of luck to you as well!
Anon: Ditto above.
Leslie: 50-ish is right. I have to pass this time or my “I’ll be 50 when I get the news that I passed …” prediction will be moot. Congrats on having already passed in the other jurisdictions (I’m guessing, NY and NJ?) I know someone who has done that and is now on her third (or fourth) attempt at the CA bar. Because you’re already a successful attorney on other states it shows how tough this exam is. Best of luck to both of us this time around!
Gina: Speaking of Holtz, I attended his one-day seminar last Sunday. I can’t say enough good things about his program. Literally! I can’t say them because we sign a non-disclosure agreement up-front. But I will say what I’ve said before about what he teaches … his system is a bit complex, but if/when you get a handle on it, it makes the PT much more do-able. And as an added bonus, John’s a great guy. I don’t know him outside of the classroom, but I’m a pretty good judge of character, and John’s quite a character! Thank you! Thank you very much! I’m here until Thursday! Try the Salisbury Steak and don’t forget to tip your waiter!
Seriously though, John’s a very nice guy and he seriously cares about how we do on the exam. I talked to him on the Sunday before, and the Wednesday of, the July exam. He did his best to help me prepare for each of the PTs. The fact that I didn’t do as well as I might have was my fault entirely.
If, for some unfortunate reason, you have to take this exam again, I recommend his program.
Holden: Very good. Post that, I will. Thanks for the effort.
Leslie: Seven distinctions? Would that it were so simple. There was a chart going around before the July exam that showed the differences. Check my profile and shoot me an e-mail and I’ll send you a copy.
CaliforniaBound: Much! Thanks very Much! I’m practicing my kick as we speak! (;-)>
