I knew there was a chance that ...

... someone would misunderestimate my intentionalizationisms.

I was referring to the good folks who sought "... accommodations so they may observe the Jewish holiday, Tisha B’Av, on Thursday, July 30, 2009."

I'm not trying to paint with a broad brush, but I know there are people in this world who, despite their protestations to the contrary, will take every advantage possible to get a leg (or a few points) up on every, and any, one else.

It has nothing to do with any type of class, suspect or otherwise. It has everything to do with the type of person some people choose to be. We all know someone like that (and don't tell me you don't!)

Besides, some of my very 'bestest' friends have testing accommodations, so I know what that's all about. The only thing I've ever accused them of is being the author of some of those 9-page long, 3000-word, released answers. Because no one could have typed or written an answer that long unless they had 90 or 120 minutes to write it! (the bastards!)

In fact, I keep trying to convince myself that if I was allowed to delay the test for one day, that I would not be looking for some clue as to the topics scheduled to be on the test I was taking tomorrow. Unfortunately, with as much as there is at stake, and as long as I've been hacking away at this beast, I honestly can't say that I would be that ... honorable, if I was in that position.

That's all I'm saying.

Geez... if we all can't see human nature for what it is, how the heck are we going to be able to evaluate the client who walks in our door, plunks himself down in the chair in our office, and unloads his tale of woe about how his neighbor gone an' done him wrong?!?

Sayin', I'm just.

I think they should grade those exams separately. It's not right for examinees who take it a day later to be graded with the rest, artificially raises the bar and skews it for those who took it not knowing what subject would pop up.

Is the holiday the same time every year???? Why does this country give Jewish individuals so much extra leeway. I am not against any religion only asking that everyone be treated equally... Yesterday was Ash weds for catholics... where was the holiday......

Hey PoohBear. Before studying for your next essay exams, try this: Find some genuine literature and read it thoroughly. Read it not only for what is written, but how it is assembled, structured, and composed. Spend months reading how to write properly, how to arrange thoughts properly, how to sculpt and mold ideas into the most dense and concise form before you commit them to text. Read real literature. No, Lord of the Rings is not real literature! Go to the public library and pick up books by the masters, such as Hemingway, Steinbeck, and Clemens. Don’t brazenly plagiarize their technique, but learn from them on a coarse level. You think what you read, and what you read determines how you think. Perhaps the bar examiners assail your essays more for how they are written than for their content. In other words, STOP WRITING LIKE YODA!!

Does anyone know how long it takes to convert to Judaism?

Wow, the wackos are coming out of the woodwork tonight. We've got hate mongers (yes, you 10:53!) and the grammar police.

While I have not spoken with GP in person, I can say with some degree of certainty that anyone capable of graduating law school is capable of writing differently for a blog and for a bar exam. [/rant]

GP, you sat a number of rows in front of me both this administration and in July. I simply wanted to say thank you on behalf of all of us who are lurking on your blog and draw inspiration and motivation from you. I wish you the best of luck.

I had a very, very good third day and I think the MBE session went well. My PR essay went well, but the Civ Pro caught me as well (venue, *really?*) I spent too much time on the second essay and had to rush the final one. I'm hoping my performance on the MBE and the third day will carry me through. I passed days 2 and 3 the last time and I'm hoping to avoid deja vu.

My best to you, GP. Keep your chin up.

OUCH to Mr.11:26 p.m.
You obviously took the bar and realize you didn't pass. Such anger!

BUT you do have a point. I studied from a 2005 BARBRI book and I passed in last year. I wrote the way the bar wants. Now I can write all I want and get paid for it. But first I learned to write for the bar grader. If Lisa was your guide you will be fine.

Bravo for being so humble and honorable. If someone were to tell me what subjects would be on the exam, I jump at it. Maybe I AM a "cheater" but it is a dog eat dog world. Come on people, do you really want to be taking it AGAIN? Who is with me??

Why don't sharks eat lawyers?
Professional courtesy, of course!

Congrats on finishing GP! Can you have a countdown now indicating when the results come in???

Hey GP,

We swapped a few emails last go round, including a few tips you gave me that helped me pass. We're all routing for you. This time you'll do it for sure! If you're ever in San Jose, drop by my office (I just love that "my office"!!!) and we can do lunch.

Hey, did you use "Under" "Here" and "Therefore" this time? Good luck! Waiting for that countdown clock!

Oh, I meant "Conclusion" "Under" "Here" and "Therefore" (repeating conclusion)

Well, for those of us observing Catholics, we should have gotten Wednesday, Feb. 25 "off" as an "accomodation" as it was Ash Wednesday, a high holy day in our religion. Doubt they will do that anytime soon! I'm with you, GP.. but my point here is that if they make certain holidays exclusive to certain religions, they should permit other petitions for the same reasons.

Stop complaining about other people's accomodations. It's trite and makes you sound stupid.

good point. You cannot give accomodations to some religions and not too others. That would be a contect based accomodation. therefore SS test.... But who knows maybe they do, if you ask....
