Alrighty then ...

... I have some good news and I have some good news. But first, ... Hey, is that Rod Serling slinking off the stage? Yep, it surely is. And he looks a bit embarrassed, too. Good Riddance, Rod! And don't let me catch you back here again!

All right, here's the situation. At first, what I had looked like the dreaded shingles. Happily, it's not. Less happily, no one knows exactly what it is, or more to the point, what it was. That's right, "What it was." Yay!

I spent the entire day yesterday bouncing from doctor's office to pharmacy to dermatologist's office. I got three different medications to treat the symptomis horribilis associated with this yet to be named tropical disease. All they are willing to call it is "contact dermatitis". But I suppose that's good news too because they aren't calling it "the dreaded shingleitis!" Thank God! I was seriously contemplating abandoning this quest if the symptoms didn't go away soon because I couldn't sit for 30 minutes without scratching furiously, and I mean furiously, at some part of my body. Gads, it was hell.

But today, whether it's the meds or the natural progression of whatever it was that inflicted me, I'm better. Not 100%, but close, real close. So. Yay. For that I will be eternally grateful. Or, if not for eternity, at least until July 31st.

Thanks to all for the good wishes. Now I've got to get back to catching up on what I was doing before this thing started, which was catching up on my schedule.

(;-)>

Now that's the kind of news I want to hear. Recovery. Sorry you can't put a name to it but whatever it was - its a memory. Good going GP.

alot of those issues are one-off rule statements, and even more of them have probably never been tested on an essay. don't sweat it!

I'd have to agree - a lot of those look like fodder for very difficult MBE questions. Dower, for example, is a pretty obscure doctrine, as are riparian rights.

PB - I understand you are working and studying. Are you planning on taking some time off before the exam. If so, how much?

All, how much time would one need if they're in the same situation (working), had a 2nd read in 7/08 (took 3 days off, 5 with weekend) and bombed 2/09 due to work related stress and not taking any time off.

I'm thinking you must just get out of the work mode, turn your blackberry off and get into the "zone", have some good rest, no distractions and exercise.

To Anon 12:27 -- I took the exam for the second time this past Feb (passed, thank god). i worked throughout the month of January while studying, but was able to arrange working from home. I completely removed commute time, which made a huge difference and I disciplined myself so that I wrote out an entire essay everyday for my lunch break. I took all of February off. If you can take any time off, take as much as possible. You have to say "screw work" when you go into the study mode portion of the day. Trust me, I realize that's easier said then done with this economy and the unemployment rate ....

10:34 Riparian rights were on both MBEs I took. It's not a difficult topic and I think it's worth knowing.

Here's a question for the keeper of this blog and all Bar Applicants who frequent it: WHY ARE YOU HERE? There's a month left, the clock is ticking and you are wasting time if you are not using every precious second (aside working, sleeping or eating) for studying and preparing and nothing else!

How many times do you want to take this test, GP?

"Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any one thing."
--Abraham Lincoln

If you're here, you're not studying. If you're not studying, your chances of passing decrease. Maybe you aren't resolved to do whatever it takes (i.e., focusing ONLY on the Bar) to pass.

P.S.: It's not "hateful" to point this out to you.

I took the bar exam for the first time Feb 09 and passed. I never really found the site until after I got my exam results, I guess alot of the traffic comes from people like me; after you go through the experience you get kind of get caught up in the drama of it I suppose.

I guess the point I am trying to make is that there is nothing wrong with goofing off in the middle of your prep. What I used to do was take a 15 minute break every few hours or so and throw paper airplanes around the library. Totally random, total waste of time, but it kept me in the library and relieved the stress a little bit. Does that answer your question?

anyone have any predictions???

Anonymous said...

Predictions: 6 essays, 200 MBEs, 2 (grueling) PTs. The MBEs cover six areas of law. The rest cover a quite manageable 14 or so. I predict you'll see something on an essay that will throw you.
